NYC Climate Mobilization Act

NYC Climate Mobilization Act
In 2019, the New York City Council passed the nyc climatemobilization act (CMA), which is a response to the City’s 1.5 C Climate Action Plan and symbolizes New York City’s commitment to the carbon reduction target set in the Paris Agreement. It pledges the city to be carbon neutral and consume 100% clean electricity by 2050.
As buildings emit almost 70% of Greenhouse Gases (GHG) in nyc climatemobilization act, the plan targets on reducing GHG emissions from the real estate industry. It results in Local Law 97, first-of-its-kind legislation, setting carbon emissions limit on NYC large buildings, both commercial and residential.
